I'm joining in on the linky party over at Teaching Happily Ever After. I'm a first grader so I like all of the Mercy Watson stories. That little pig is awesome! If you haven't read any Mercy stories you HAVE to right now! And the illustrations are amazing! I used to read Junie B. Jones a lot but got a little tired of having to explain her behavior:-) She is a riot though. What's your favorite read aloud? I would love to get some new ideas for this year.

Thanks for linking up! I read Mercy Watson last year with my class too. :)
ReplyDeleteI hear ya about Junie B. I only read those books aloud the first year I taught - most of the kids didn't like her because of her behavior!
ReplyDeleteLast year I read Mrs. Piggle Wiggly by Betty McDonald. The kids loved it!
I tried Mrs. Piggle Wiggle last year. Unfortunately, I wasn't into it so the kids lost out on doing any more:-( Maybe I'll try again this year.
ReplyDeleteI just love Skippy Jon Jones (my husband even likes these books)! The kids love it and there is also adult humor in there as well. I really want that stuffed Skippy Jon @ Kohls for $5, but they are always sold out! I teach 3rd, but I think younger kiddos would like it, especially the parts where he throws in a rhyming song and/or wrap!

I have to admit I haven't read Skippy Jon Jones but I know when my kids listen to it at listening center they crack up:-) I was one of the lucky ones that got the $5 Skippy at Kohl's. Hubby and sales lady were trying to figure out what he was. He is a weird looking little guy!
